As a Senior (2012-13)
Despite being a team captain, Johnson did not run cross country during his senior season.
On the track, Johnson took part in five meets for Cornell. He ran at the Indoor Heps in late February, placing sixth in the 5K to score a point for the Big Red. His time of 14:26.33 was a personal best in the event. He also ran in the 10K at the Penn Relays, coming in 22nd place.
As a Junior (2011-12)
After coming back from an injury that sidelined him for more than a year, Johnson was an integral part of Cornell's cross country season in 2011. He started with a 13th-place showing at the Army-Binghamton tri-meet, but two weeks later he was the team's second finisher at the Paul Short Invitational. He took 11th place at the Princeton Invitational, was 40th overall (and seventh for the Big Red) at the Heptagonal Championships, and his 32:20.8 at the NCAA Northeast Regionals placed him 31st overall and second on the team. He won Cornell's 5th Runner Award at the end of the cross country season.
On the track, Johnson was 15th at the Penn Relays in the Championship 10K with a time of 30:33.57.
As a Sophomore (2010-11)
Johnson missed the 2010-11 season with an injury.
As a Freshman (2009-10)
Kevin ran cross country his freshman year, making the HEPS team. He primarily ran the 3K and the 5K during the indoor season, ending up with a personal record in the 5K of 14:49. Johnson ran much better outdoors, ending up with personal records of 14:29 in the 5K and 30:10 in the 10K. He was a HEPS scorer in the 5K (6th place) and a NCAA Outdoor regional qualifier in the 10K where he finished 25th out of 49. Kevin’s sophomore year was filled with disappointment as he had to medical redshirt for the entire year.
Before Cornell
Johnson took third as a senior in cross country as his team won the state championship. He then placed fifth at the Nike Southwest regionals and qualified for the national meet. In track, he placed fourth in the 3200m and fifth in the 1600m while also finishing third in the 4x800m relay. He also earned All-America honors at the Nike Indoor Nationals after placing fourth in the 3200m. As a junior, he earned all-state and all-conference honors after taking 11th in cross country, third in the 3200m and sixth in the 1600m.
