As a Junior (2017-18)
• Competed during the indoor season, earning a win in the 60 hurdles (9.04) at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open.
• Earned a personal best in the 60 hurdles (8.99) at the Greg Page Relays.
As a Sophomore (2016-17)
• Competed in seven meets for Cornell during his sophomore season, primarily in the hurdles.
• Finished seventh in the 60 hurdles at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open (9.29) and grabbed a second place finish in the 300 hurdles at the Cornell Cabin Fever Invitational (42.97).
• Set a personal record in the 400 hurdles at the Bison Outdoor Classic with a 42.97 and finished off the season with a fifth place finish at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational (58.52).
As a Freshman (2015-16)
• Ran the 400 meter hurdles in two outdoor meets as a freshman, finishing fifth at the Cornell Outdoor Upstate Challenge (58.83) and sixth at the Big Red Invitational (59.11).
• Indoors, helped the 4x400 meter relay team to a fifth place finish (3:33.54) at the Greg Page Relays.
Before Cornell
• Carter primarily competed in the hurdles at Mather High School, earning personal best of 16.19 seconds in the 110 meter hurdles and 41.52 in the 300 hurdles.
• He placed first in the 110 hurdles at the Luther North Invitational his senior year.
• As three-year captain of track and field and cross country, Carter was also named to the All-City team in track as a junior and senior.
• He was also president of the Mather High School National Honor Society.
Personal
• Matthew Jason Carter is the son of Hammond Carter and Joy Walker.
• He has four older brothers, Hammond, Daniel, Paolo and Mark, and an older sister, Erica.
