2002-03 Men's Track and Field Roster
Biography
At Cornell: Oliver proved to be one of the most promising young runners in the East as a sophomore. Year-round commitment to running will lead him to having the strength necessary to be one of the more dominant runners in the Heps, a future All-American, and perhaps Cornell[apos]s first sub-4-minute miler. Indoors, Oliver shaved five seconds off his personal record and broke the 4:10 barrier to place fourth at the Heps in the mile. An indoor 3,000 in 8:31 was the race that got him going and gave him confidence after an inconsistent cross country campaign. Outdoors, Oliver continued to improve and earned All-East honors with his fifth-place showing at the IC4As in the 1500 meters with a 3:46.28 clocking -- the third fastest time in Cornell history.
Top Performances: 800 meters--1:54.65; 1500 meters--3:46.28; mile--4:09.51; 3,000 meters--8:31.73; 5,000 meters--15:18.78.
At Albany Academy: Oliver combined to earn 10 letters in track and cross country at Albany Academy, serving as team captain as a senior. A state qualifier in cross country in 2000, he was a state finalist in each of his final two years. Oliver competed in the 2000 Empire State Games.
Personal: Oliver William Tassinari is the son of Robin and Anne Tassinari, and he has three brothers and four sisters.
