Biography
At Cornell: Pat made his presence felt immediately for the Big Red in the high jump. A multi-talented athlete as a high schooler, Pat focused on the high jump but his practices were limited because of severe shin pain that persisted throughout the season. In spite of this, he managed to set personal records indoors and outdoors at the Heps and register critical team points, as he placed sixth indoors and fifth outdoors. An intense competitor, Pat, cleared 6-7 1/2 and nearly made the next height which would have been an NCAA regional mark. This will be his first goal as a sophomore, along with moving up on the all-time Cornell lists and finishing even higher at the Heps.
Top Performance: high jump--6-7 1/2.
At La Costa Canyon: A two-sport athlete, Pat lettered four times in track and twice in basketball at La Costa HS. He was a three-time league champion in the high jump and was the school[apos]s athlete of the year as a senior captain.
Personal: Patrick John McDonough is the son of John and Mitzi McDonough and has a younger brother.
