As a Senior (2014-15)McCormack had a solid season in the middle distances, finishing second in the 800m in the Southern Tier Collegiate Open, fourth in the 1000 at the Denault Memorial, first in the 1500 at Princeton with a personal best, and helped his Distance Medley Relay team to the sixth-best time in Cornell history at IC4A's.
As a Junior (2013-14)McCormack ran in just two races this cross country season, finishing 22nd at the season-opener against Army (26:58.9) and 267th at the Paul Short Open (28:22.0).
On the track, McCormack participated in two events in his third year. His best showing came at the Cornell Upstate Challenge where he posted a career best 800 of 1:56.22 in a 6
th place finish.
As a Sophomore (2012-13)During his first year with the Cornell cross country team, McCormack took 83rd place at the Yellowjacket Invitational and 160th at the Paul Short Run's open race. On the track, he was a part of the Big Red's 18th-place DMR at the Indoor IC4As, and he also ran the 1000 as an individual at that meet, taking 13th.
Before CornellMcCormack ran track and cross country in high school for two years, winning the indoor and outdoor New Jersey state championship with his team in 2010 and 2011. He captained his indoor and outdoor teams in 2011, and they were eighth-place finishers at the 2011 Nike Track Nationals in Eugene, Ore.
PersonalPhelan Thomas McCormack is the son of Joseph and Winnie McCormack. He has a younger brother, William, who is attending Columbia University.
