Competed in four meets during his sophomore cross country campaign, beginning with the season-opening quad meet with Columbia, Brown and NYU where he took 22nd.
Then had a strong showing in the open race at the Paul Short Run, finishing 32nd overall and second for Cornell.
At the Penn State National Open, Whitney was 66th and then turned in a 62nd-place performance at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships.

Made collegiate cross country debut at the Spiked Shoe Invitational, finishing 48th, and went on to compete in three other meets.
Finished a season-best eighth at the John Reif Memorial Run.
On the track, competed in five meets and earned four top 10 finishes.
Indoors, finished fifth in the 3000 at the Upstate Challenge and was a part of the first place 4x800 relay squad at the Greg Page Relays.
Hit a collegiate best of 8:43.92 in the 3000 for second at the Cornell Cabin Fever Invitational.
Outdoors, ran the 5000 at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational.

Whitney was a team captain of the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams his senior year.
During the 2015-16 season, he won the individual section championship in cross country and the individual sectional championship in the indoor 3200 meter.
