At Cornell: For two years in a row, what looked like a promising season was cut short by injury. Prior to getting hurt, Toro had moved up to number three all-time in the Heptathlon and looked poised to claim the school record with improvements in almost every event. In his final year, he will continue to do the multis with his sights set on scoring over 5000 and 6800, but he will also focus more on the pole vault, where he has shown dramatic potential, clearing 15-3 with limited practice. All-East as a freshman and seventh all-time, he could jump close to 23 feet in the long jump and has a best of 6-5 in the high jump.

At St. Anthony’s: Toro was a five-time all-league selection in track at St. Anthony’s HS. A team captain for both the track and golf teams as a senior, Toro also lettered in basketball.

Personal: Anthony Joseph Toro is the son of Tony and Lynn Toro.
