As a Senior (2013-14)
Butler continued to form a potent high jump combo with Blair in his final year for the Big Red. He kicked off his senior season with an indoor season best high jump conversion of 7’ 0.25” to take home 3rd place at the Greg Page Relays. He took the top spot the following month at the Cornell Southern Tier Collegiate Open. He finished 3rd at the SPIRE NCAA Indoor Invitational. At the Indoor Heps he placed 2nd with a conversion of 6’ 9.75”. Butler carried the momentum outdoors where he scored 3rd place at the Stanford Invitational. He posted 1st place high jumps in consecutive events at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational and the Penn Relays. His outdoor season best came at the Cornell Outdoor Invitational where marked a conversion at 6’ 10.75”, which was good for 2nd place. At the Outdoor Heps, Butler finished 5th with a conversion of 6’ 9.5”. Butler wrapped up his collegiate career with a 38th place finish at the NCAA East Prelims.

As a Junior (2012-13)
Butler was part of one of the best high jump tandems in the country with Montez Blair, as he reached the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C. Butler came in 20th place at that meet, just missing a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championship. Earlier in the year, Butler was third at the Indoor Heps in the high jump, won the event at the Indoor IC4As and was second at the Penn Relays in the Eastern section. Butler then placed third at the Outdoor Heps and fourth at the Outdoor IC4As the week before the NCAA Regional. Butler had a personal best clearance of 7' 1" at the Indoor IC4As.

As a Sophomore (2011-12)
Butler had a wonderful year for Cornell, placing fourth at the Indoor Heps in the high jump with a leap of 6' 9 3/4" to score four points for his team. At the Indoor IC4As the next week, he reached 6' 8 1/4" to place seventh and score another 1.5 points. At the Eastern high jump at the Penn Relays, Butler took seventh with a height of 6' 6 3/4". At the Outdoor Heptagonal Championships, Butler was again the fourth-place finisher in the high jump when he reached 6' 8 1/4", clearing it on his first attempt. Outdoors at the IC4As, Butler reached his season high of 6' 11" to place third, scoring six points for Cornell while moving up to 10th all-time at Cornell. Thanks to his stellar jumping all year, Butler earned a spot at the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Fla., where he reached a height of 6' 9 1/2" and tied for 32nd. His best of 7' 1/4" indoors is tied for the fourth-best height ever at Cornell.

Before Cornell
Consistently over 6’6" throughout his freshman year, Butler set the Monmouth freshman record at 6’9.25" and then upped his best again to 6' 10.75". He qualified for the IC4As as well as the USATF Junior Championships. Butler was second at the NEC Championships with a 6’9.5" jump.

In high school, Butler high jumped for Francis Scott Key High School. He holds the records in high jumps and the shares a record for the county, was named All-County six times, won the county championship six times, was the 2010 Indoor State Champion and was tabbed to the First Team All-Metro three occasions.
