Biography

As a Senior (2011-12)
Formica concluded his Cornell career well indoors, taking sixth at the Indoor Heps in the long jump to start the season. He was even better in the heptathlon, placing second, picking up a career-best 5,167 points and scoring eight for the Big Red. He won the heptathlon long jump the following week at the Indoor IC4As, and he placed fifth overall with 5,060 points to score four more for Cornell. He scored 5,167 points in the heptathlon during the indoor season, a score that is now the third-best ever at Cornell.

As a Junior (2010-11)
Formica recorded a personal best in the heptathlon his junior year with a score of 4,874, which placed fourth at the indoor Heps and moved him up to seventh all-time at Cornell. He also scored 3,319 points in the pentathlon which is sixth best in school history. At the Ivy league Outdoor Championships he scored 6,675 points in the decathlon, almost a 400-point improvement from the previous season. He was aided by personal records in both the 100m (11.06) and the pole vault (14'1"). That score placed him third at the Heps and moved Formica up to fourth all-time at Cornell.

As a Sophomore (2009-10)
Formica began training for the decathlon going into his sophomore year. Although he was plagued with injuries in the beginning of the season, he came back strong at the indoor Heps placing third in the heptathlon with a score of 4,782, just missing IC4As. While training for the Decathlon, Formica managed to set a personal best of 23′ 11 1/2″ in the long jump. At the outdoor Heps he placed fourth in the Decathlon. He also clocked a time of 50.05 in the 400 at that meet.

As a Freshman (2008-09)
Formica started out as a long jumper his freshman year setting a personal record at 23′ 7" and qualifying for the IC4A championships both indoor and outdoor.

Before Cornell
Formica was a three-time all-state honoree in the long jump and earned all-state honors as part of the school's 4x100m relay. A two-time team most valuable performer, he also served as team captain for two seasons and helped his team to a league championship in 2006. Formica also played four years of football as a wide receiver, helping him to earn the school's outstanding athlete award in 2008.

Personal
Vincent Formica is the son of Tim and Renae Formica and has two brothers and a sister. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
