Biography
At Cornell
As a junior, Smith was a member of the fourth varsity eight that won the gold medal at the 2015 ECAC Sprints. He also rowed in the varsity four with coxswain at the 2015 IRA Regatta that struggled with injury and finished in 12th place. Smith had an outstanding rookie season, rowing in the varsity eight that took eighth place at the 2013 EARC Sprints before finishing 11th overall at the 2013 IRA Regatta.Â
Prior to Cornell
Smith was a three-time letter winner at Phillips Academy, winning the New England Championships three straight years from 2010-2012 and placing second at Nationals in 2011. After spending most of 2011 with Penn AC, he led his crew from the Tampa Training Center to first place finishes in open novice scull and junior pair at the 2012 Halifax Regatta.
Personal
Alexander Godfrey Smith is the son of E.W. and Margaret Smith. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
