Biography
At Cornell
As a junior, Torkelson rowed in the third varsity eight that won the bronze medal at the 2015 ECAC Sprints, before taking third in the Petite Finals at the 2015 IRA Regatta for a ninth place finish overall. During his sophomore season, Torkelson rowed in the third varsity eight that finished in fifth place overall at the 2014 Eastern Sprints. The crew, which entered the weekend as the eight-seed, went on to win the Petite Finals at the 2014 IRA Regatta to place seventh overall.
Prior to Cornell
Torkelson rowed for five years at Saratoga Springs high school. He earned a gold medal in the men’s youth pair at the 2010 Youth National Championship, before earning bronze in 2011 and silver in 2012.
Personal
Arik Haukon Torkelson is the son of Rich and Leslie Torkelson and he has one older and one younger sister. He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
