As a senior (2019-20)
• Competed on the Cornell D 8+ boat in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, helping the group record a time of 12:32.28.
• Guided the Cornell F 4+ boat to a top-five finish in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the team placed fifth with a time of 14:07.80.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.
As a junior (2018-19)
• After making the transition from the lightweight rowing team, competed in six regattas in his first season with the heavyweights.
• Started the season rowing on the fourth varsity eight, working his way up to the third varsity eight by the end of the season.
• Rowed in the fourth seat on the third varsity eight at the 2019 Eastern Sprints and 2019 IRA National Championships.
• Guided the third varsity eight to a fifth place finish in the Petite Final at the Eastern Sprints, placing 11th overall.
• Helped the third varsity eight win the Third Level Final at the IRA National Championships, finishing 13th overall.
• After spending his first two seasons with the lightweight program, Mencke will row with the heavyweights beginning in 2018-19.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Rowed in the lightweight second varsity eight for the majority of his sophomore season before moving in the varsity eight for IRAs.
• Won a silver medal in the lightweight second varsity eight at Eastern Sprints.
• Helped the lightweight second varsity eight to wins over Princeton, MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Was in the lightweight varsity eight that took second in the Petite Finals at IRAs.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the lightweight third varsity eight throughout his rookie season.
• Helped the lightweight crew defeat Princeton, Columbia & MIT, and Dartmouth.
• Also rowed for the lightweight third varsity eight that placed fourth in the Grand Final at the 2017 EARC Sprints.
Prior to Cornell
• As a member of the Dallas United Club, Mencke rowed 3-seat in the crew's eight that won gold at the 2016 Central Youth Championship.
• Rowed bow seat in the coxed four, and 3-seat in the eight that won gold at 2015 Texas State Championships.
Personal
• Charles Theodore Mencke is the son of Robert and Mary Mencke and he has two brothers and one sister.
• His brother, Robert, played lacrosse for Harvard.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
