Herb Gottfried has been assisting the Cornell rowing program for five years. He assists with strength and flexibility training during the winter months and is involved with the crews' on-the-water training in the fall and spring seasons.

Along with his Cornell duties, he coaches community rowers in the Ithaca area. He has also coached baseball, basketball, tennis and soccer at various levels throughout his career.

Gottfried is a master's rower and is an avid sculler.

A professor of landscape architecture in Cornell's College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, he and his wife, Jan Jennings, an associate professor in the College of Human Ecology, reside in Ithaca.
