Biography

As a junior (2019-20)

• Helped the Cornell C 4+ boat to a ninth place finish in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the boat completed the race in 12:48.49.
• Guided the Cornell C 8+ boat to an 11th place finish among 22 boats in Flight 2 of the Cornell Autumn Classic with a time of 11:54.95.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.

As a sophomore (2018-19)

• Competed in five regattas during the 2018-19 campaign, competing primarily on the fourth Varsity eight boat.
• Helped the fourth varsity eight to a third place finish in the Petite Final at the 2019 EARC Sprints, placing ninth overall.
• Also rowed on the fourth varsity eight at regattas against Harvard and George Washington, Navy and Syracuse, and Yale and Princeton.
• Competed on the second varsity four against Penn and Georgetown.

Prior to Cornell

• Competed in four years of water polo and swimming at the McDonogh School.
• Helped his water polo team to the 2017 MIAA Water Polo Championship, earning all-conference accolades following the season.
• Elected team captain of the swim team in 2017.
• Earned two letters in water polo and three letters in swimming.

Personal

• Gregory James Nelson is the son of David and Linda Nelson and has two siblings, one brother and one sister.
• He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
