As a senior (2019-20)
• Mainstay on the Big Red's varsity eight over his four-year career.
• Rowed from the fifth seat on the Big Red’s men’s championship eight boat at the Head of the Charles Regatta, helping Cornell post a time of 14:54.47.
• Helped the Cornell A 4+ boat to a fourth place finish in Flight 1 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, as the boat was the top Big Red finisher of the event in 12:24.59.
• Rowed on the Cornell A 8+ boat in Flight 2 at the Cornell Autumn Classic, helping the group place fourth among 22 boats and post the fastest Big Red heavyweight time (11:13.67) of the day.
• Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19.
As a junior (2018-19)
• Consistent member of Cornell’s varsity eight during his junior season, most commonly rowing in the fourth seat.
• Helped the varsity eight to victories over Georgetown and No. 12 Penn, as the team crossed the finish line first in 5:30.80 to claim the Madeira Cup and lead Cornell to the James Wray Memorial Trophy.
• Rowed the varsity eight to a second place finish in the Petite Final and an eighth place overall finish at the 2019 EARC Sprints, placing fifth among Ivy schools.
• Helped the varsity eight to a sixth place showing in the Petite Final and a 12th place overall finish at the 2019 IRA National Championships.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Rowed in both the varsity eight and second varsity eight during the 2017-18 season.
• Helped the varsity eight win the Third Level Final at the 2018 IRA National Championships, placing 13th overall.
• Led the varsity eight to a third-place finish in the Petite Final at the 2018 EARC Sprints to beat its seed with a ninth place finish overall.
• Rowed in the varsity eight crew that defeated Syracuse and Navy to win the Goes Cup.
• Rowed in the second varsity eight that defeated Penn to help the Big Red take home the James Wray Memorial Trophy for the 11th consecutive season.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the varsity eight throughout his rookie season.
• Helped the crew take a sixth-place finish in the Petite Final at the 2017 IRA National Championships, placing twelfth overall.
• Rowed the varsity eight to a solid victory in the Petite Final at the 2017 EARC Sprints with a time that would have placed them ahead of sixth-place Brown’s pace in the Grand Finals.
• Also defeated Penn, winning the Madeira Cup.
Prior to Cornell
• Rowed for five years with Auckland Grammar School, serving as vice-captain in 2015.
• Medaled three-straight years at the National Championships, taking gold in 2013, silver in 2014, and bronze in 2015.
• Rowed with the Auckland Representative U18 Team, as well as the North Island Representative U18 Team in 2015.
• As a member of the New Zealand National U19 Team, he rowed in the junior men's eight at the 2016 World Rowing Championships.
Personal
• James Kenneth Ross Aimer is the son of Simon Aimer and Bridget Moran and he has two younger sisters.
• His cousin, Michael Ball, played rugby at Brown.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
