Biography
As a senior (2019-20)
• Did not compete (Spring 2020 season canceled due to COVID-19).
As a junior (2018-19)
• Competed in six regattas during his junior campaign, most commonly on the third varsity eight boat.
• Rowed in a variety of seats, but frequented the fourth seat the most.
• Helped the third varsity eight finish second in its race against Harvard and George Washington with a time of 5:59.50, as the Big Red defeated George Washington but fell to Harvard.
• Rowed on the fourth varsity eight at the 2019 EARC Sprints where the team finished third in the Petite Final and ninth overall.
As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Rowed in third varsity eight during the 2017-18 season.
• Helped the third varsity eight to a sixth place finish in the Petite Final at the 2018 IRA National Championships, placing 12th overall.
• Led the third varsity eight to a second-place finish in the Petite Final at the 2018 EARC Sprints to take eighth place finish overall.
As a freshman (2016-17)
• Member of the fourth varsity eight during his rookie season.
• Helped the fourth varsity eight take second in their heat at the Carnegie Cup, falling to Princeton yet defeating Yale.
Prior to Cornell
• A member of the San Diego Rowing Club, Hartt rowed in the Grand Finals at the 2016 San Diego Crew Classic and USRowing Southwest Regionals as a member of the varsity eight.
• Placed ninth with the junior eight at the 2015 Head of the Charles Regatta.
• Rowed with the US Junior National Team in the U19 eight that competed in the Grand Finals of the 2015 USRowing Club Nationals.
Personal
• Simon Whitney Hartt is the son of Steven Hartt and Elizabeth Whall and he has one older sister.
• His godmother, Lucy Shurtleff, rowed at Boston University and was a member of the 1980 US Olympic Team.
• Enrolled in the College of Engineering.
