Pinckney was a two-time all-state performer at Valley Central HS after setting school records for wins in the circle and RBI at the plate. She posted a 44-4 record and a 0.68 career ERA and posted two perfect games and three no-hitters. At the plate, she batted .349 as a four-year starter and letter winner. Pinckney led her team to four division titles, a sectional runner-up finish as a junior and a sectional crown her senior year. She was named the team most valuable player in each of her final two seasons and was elected team captain as a senior. Pinckney was a two-time first-team all-county selection by the Times Herald Record. Her teams were ranked in the state's top 20 in each of her final two seasons, including No. 8 as a senior.

Personal
Jane Patricia Pinckney is the daughter of John and Dorothy Pinckney and has an older brother. Her brother, Steven, plays baseball at SUNY New Paltz. She is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
