At Tompkins Cortland Community College
Boyd was an all-conference and all-region pitcher as a freshman at Tompkins Cortland Community College. At the plate, Boyd hit .343 with 10 doubles, two home runs and 32 RBI in 36 contests. She also scored 16 runs. In the circle, Boyd posted a 12-3 record and a 2.64 ERA with 88 strikeouts in 98.0 innings. She tossed a pair of shutouts and notched 13 complete games.

At Archbishop Molloy
Boyd was named the Queens softball Player of the Year by Five Boro All-Sports as a senior at Archbishop Molloy HS. She was a first-team all-city selection after earning team MVP honors her senior year. Boyd served as team captain and was named the school's Female Athlete of the Year. She played summer ball with the Lady Diamond Pros, winning a championship as team MVP. She pitched a perfect game and three no-hitters.

Personal
Janelle Vannette Boyd is the daughter of John and Valerie Boyd and has two brothers. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
