Biography

As a junior (2019)

• Was 0-8 with a 5.74 ERA in 14 appearances, including nine starts.
• Hurled a pair of complete games, throwing 46.1 innings overall.
• Pitched 2.2 perfect innings against Colgate, striking out five.
• Allowed just one earned run over 4.2 innings of work in consecutive appearances against Dartmouth and Ithaca College.
• Closed the season by allowing just one hit in 3.0 innings of work in a start against Ivy champion Harvard.
• Was perfect in 13 fielding opportunities.
 

As a sophomore (2018)

• Was 7-6 with a 3.74 ERA and 76 strikeouts in 82.1 innings of work.
• Started 15 of the 16 games that she appeared in with nine complete games.
• Ranked among Ivy League leaders in innings pitched (ninth), strikeouts (fourth) and wins (fourth) despite missing the final two weeks of the season due to injury.
• Allowed opponents to hit a team-low .277.
• Picked up both wins in the weekend set against Ivy champ Harvard, throwing complete-game seven hitters in both with 14 strikeouts and just three walks on the weekend.
• Scattered six hits over seven innings in a 3-2 victory over Siena, then backed that up with a complete-game five-hitter in a 2-1 victory at Delaware.
• Punched out seven in a hard-luck 3-2 loss to Villanova, allowing eight hits and three earned runs.
• Threw in two of the three wins at Brown, allowing nine hits and striking out seven in 10.0 innings of work against the Bears.
• Struck out a career-high nine in a complete game loss at Yale.
 

As a freshman (2017)

• Nelson tied for the team lead in wins (5-7) while pacing the squad in innings pitched (97.0) and strikeouts (55).
• Posted a 4.76 ERA in 20 appearances, including 15 starts.
• Hurled six complete games.
• Lowered her ERA to 3.71 in Ivy League play with a pair of complete games in 10 appearances (six starts).
• Made nine appearances allowing two earned runs or less.
• Picked up her first collegiate win and complete game in a 9-2 victory over Bethune-Cookman, scattering six hits and surrendering just one earned run.
• Struck out six in 5.1 innings, allowing just two hits and two runs in a victory over Morgan State.
• Pitched all nine innings in a 7-3 victory at Columbia, striking out six and scattering eight hits.
• Also struck out six in starts against Brown and Siena.
• Took the hard-luck 1-0 loss in extra innings at Princeton, allowing eight hits in 7.2 innings.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Nelson was a two-time all-conference first team pitcher at Juanita HS.
• She led her team to a state title as a junior, pitching four consecutive shutouts in the tournament and going 4-for-4 with a home run at the plate in the championship game.
• Was a USA Today All-USA honorable mention pick for Western Washington.
• Served as team captain as a senior.
• Was part of four teams that qualified for the state tournament with a pair of conference and district titles.

• Lisa Casey Nelson is the daughter of Tim and Debbie Nelson and has an older brother.
• She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
