Biography

As a junior (2022)

• Registered a 7-9 record after appearing in 25 games at pitcher for the Big Red.
• Pitched 57 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.22 in 126 innings played.


As a sophomore (2021)

• Season canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 

As a freshman (2020)

• Led the pitching staff with a 3-1 record in four games started and five total appearances.
• Earned first career win on Feb. 21 in a 12-5 win over Albany in which she struck out 10 batters over six innings pitched.
• Pitched 24.0 innings with a 2.63 ERA, struck out 20 batters.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Burd was a four-time first-team all-section and all-county pick at Connellsville HS.
• Was the Herald Standard Player of the Year and the Elite Scholar-Athlete in 2019.
• Named to the WPIAL and PIAA all-district all-star team as a senior.
• Was a two-year captain, helping the squad to a WPIAL runner-up finish as a senior and a sectional championship as a sophomore.
• Was the WPIAL Strikeout and Win Top 10 leader.
• Also led the team in batting average and hits in each of her four varsity seasons.

• Mianna Shu Burd is the daughter of John Burd and Cynthia Matrinchalk and has a younger sister.
• She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
