Biography

As a junior (2014)
Giaquinto posted career highs in batting average (.278), doubles (four), home runs (four), RBI (25), runs scored (12) and slugging percentage (.443) in 35 contests, including 29 starts. She had six multi-hit contests, including a pair of three-hit games. She was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and five RBI against Princeton and went 3-for-6 in a game against Colgate. She blasted two doubles and drove in four at George Washington a day after going 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI in a win at Georgetown. Giaquinto also homered in back-to-back games against Albany and Columbia.

As a sophomore (2013)
Giaquinto batted .258 in 23 contests, including five starts. She drove in five runs and scored two more. Giaquinto also stole a base. She had a two-run single against Ithaca College and walked twice, stole a base, scored a run and drove in another against Rider.

As a freshman (2012)
Giaquinto played in 18 contests with nine starts, batting .188 with a double and an RBI. She collected her first career hit against George Mason and had a pinch-hit RBI single in a win at Liberty. Her first career extra-base hit came on a double at Colgate.

Prior to Cornell
Giaquinto was a three-time all-state selection, including a first-team pick as a senior, while leading Bishop O'Connell HS to four league championships. She was also part of three teams that captured Viginia Independent School Athletic Association titles. A three-time all-conference selection, Giaquinto was named conference Player of the Year as a senior and was first-team All-Met. Giaquinto batted .500 with eight doubles, a triple, seven home runs and 51 RBI in just 96 at bats in her final season with a 1.359 OPS. The Bishop O'Connell female athlete of the year in 2011, she earned the same award from the Greater Arlington Sports Club as well.

Personal
Sophie Ann Giaquinto is the daughter of Joseph and Susan Giaquinto and has both an older and younger sister. She is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.  Sophie's older sister, Madeleine, was a member of the Georgetown softball team.
