Biography
At Cornell
Senior (2012): Leyen played a vital role on the defense, making 27 tackles including seven for a loss during the year. He had four sacks, the second-best on Cornell's roster. His excellence on defense was recognized by the league, which named his to the All-CSFL First Team. He also earned the Al Baldani Outstanding Senior Award, given to the senior who contributes the most over his career at Cornell.
Junior (2011): Leyen compiled 20 tackles in six games as a junior and also added one sack and 2.5 tackles for a loss.
Sophomore (2010): Leyen saw action in six games during his sophomore season. He finished the season with 11 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss of 18 yards. Leyen also recovered a fumble in the season opener at Mansfield.
Freshman (2009): Leyen saw action in four games during his rookie season. He finished the year with six tackles, including a season-high four vs. Princeton. Leyen also registered one tackle for a loss and recovered a fumble against the Tigers.
At Liberty
A 2007 first-team all-league honorable mention performer in football at Liberty HS, Chris Leyen won the school's Lion Award in 2008 and was a National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete. He was also on the swim team for three years and the wrestling team for four years. Leyen won multiple awards in wrestling and received the school's Martin Olivieri/Clyde Forrest Scholar-Athlete award in that sport in 2009.

Christopher L. Leyen is the son of Tom and Shannon Leyen and he has one younger brother and one younger sister.
