At Cornell
Morand moves from corner to safety for his senior season with the departure of nearly the entire Big Red defensive backfield. At 6-2, he has the height of a safety, but the speed and agility to cover the conference’s bigger receivers. He is also a big-hitter who excels on special teams. Morand appeared in eight games in 2008 with three starts. For the season, he recorded 18 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble. Against Lehigh, Morand had a season-high four tackles, including one for a loss, and forced a fumble. He earned Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week honors after making his first interception count, returning it 72 yards for a score to help defeat Central New York rival Colgate on Homecoming in 2007. He added four pass breakups, five tackles and one tackle for loss against the Raiders. For the season, Morand had a team-high 12 pass breakups and led the defensive backs with 41 tackles, including 23 solo stops. He had a career-best seven tackles and forced a fumble against Penn. Morand had five tackles and a pass breakup in eight contests as a freshman. He is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.

At St. Xavier
A first-team all-league pick for the state champion St. Xavier HS team, Morand was an honorable mention all-district pick as a senior. Morand ended his senior season with five interceptions, eight pass breakups and 61 total tackles. He intercepted a pass with 44 seconds left to help his team to the state semifinal victory en route to its 14-0 finish and No. 5 ranking in the USA Today’s Super 25 national poll. Morand also spent one year on the track team, competing in the long jump and high jump.
