At Cornell: Kenney showed the potential to be a standout in his first season at wide receiver and is expected to play a bigger role in the deep receiving corps as a junior. The converted running back caught five passes for 29 yards as a sophomore in 2007, seeing action in all 10 contests to earn his second varsity letter. He earned his first in 2006 after seeing action in all 10 games, averaging 4.0 yards on his nine carries and also making a special teams tackle. An athlete with good hands, he was particularly impressive during spring ball the last two seasons. He is enrolled in the College of Architecture, Art and Planning.

At State College Area: An honorable mention all-state pick as a senior at State College Area HS, Kenney was named one of the top 25 Division I-AA running backs in the Class of 2006 by ShowingBlitz.com. Kenney helped his team to district titles as a sophomore and junior and a runner-up finish as a senior. As a senior, Kenney rushed for 188 yards and caught 22 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, he made 56 tackles and had three interceptions as a safety. He was selected to compete in the Lezzer Lumber All-State Football Classic after his senior campaign and was invited to the U.S. Army All-American Combine as a junior and senior. He was rated as a two-star prospect by recruiting service Rivals.com. Kenney also ran track, where he holds two school records, and baseball, where he was a national all-star as a centerfielder at the 2002 Babe Ruth Baseball national championship. He was a state qualifier in track during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in both 2005 and 2006.

Personal: Matthew Bay Kenney is the son of Larry and Patti Kenney and has a younger brother and sister.
