Biography

At Cornell: Upal Sarker returns to the Big Red for his senior season as the most experienced and most accomplished wide receiver on the team.  He will be expected to lead a young wide receiver squad that lost two of its leading receivers from a year ago.  Sarker finished last season with 298 reception yards and three touchdowns.  On October 24, 2008, Sarker highlighed the comeback victory against Army with a touchdown reception in the endzone that gave the Big Red a 12-10 lead with just 39 seconds left on the clock.   Sarker has also excelled on special teams, leading the Big Red with 15 punts for 493 yards, including a team high seven punts inside the 20 yard line.

At State College:  As well as playing basketball for two years at State College Area HS, Sarker also was a goalkeeper on the school's soccer team for four years.  That team won the District VI championship in 2005.  In 2006, Sarker served as captain of the team, and he won District VI All-Star honors.

Personal:  Upal P. Sarker is the son of Matilal and Manika Sarker, and he has one younger brother.
