Biography
As a Senior (2011)
Herman took 19th place at the Paul Short Invitational as a senior, then followed that performance with a 36th-place showing at the Colgate Invitational. She took 53rd at the open race of the Paul Short Invitational, and she closed out her senior cross country career with a 32nd-place finish at the Yellowjacket Invitational.
As a Freshman, Sophomore and Junior (2008-10)
Herman has been a solid, consistent contributor to the Big Red in both cross country and track, competing at the cross country Heps and steadily improving as a distance runner in the spring. As a junior, Herman won her heat of the 5000 meters at the Bucknell Outdoor Classic.
Before Cornell
Herman was a member of the Nike National Championship team in cross country in 2005 and finished second in 2006. She was a two-time team captain for both cross country and indoor track and served as captain of the outdoor track team as a senior. She also won numerous team and individual county and sectional titles.
Personal
Shelby Jean Herman is the daughter of Russell and Brenda Herman and has a younger brother. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
