Cornell University Athletics

As a Sophomore (2017-18)
• Competed in three meets and was a part of two winning relays.
• Won the 4x400 relay at the Kane Invitational (4:01.83) and the DMR at the Deneault Memorial Invitational (12:50.53).
• Also was seventh in the 600 at the Sunday Invitational (1:41.61) and 10th in the 800 at the Deneault Memorial Invitational (2:25.63).
• Did not compete in any cross country meets.

As a Freshman (2016-17)
• Ran in one cross country race as a freshman, finishing 10th at the John Reif Memorial Run. 
• On the track, focused on the middle-distances and opened the indoor season with two first place relay finishes with the 4x800 and Distance Medley Relay squads at the Greg Page Relays.
• Used a collegiate-best in the 800 (2:21.85) for fifth at the Marc Deneault Memorial and finished third in the 600 at the Cornell Cabin Fever Invitational.

Before Cornell
• Earned All-Ohio track honors all four years in high school and had the same honor in 2013 for cross country.
• Was the state runner-up in the 400 meter in 2014 and a state champion with her 4x400 meter relay team in 2016.
• Also an accomplished swimmer, earning both All-Ohio and All-American honors in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and Academic All-American status in 2016.
• Captained the cross country, swimming, and track teams her senior year and was also two-time Academic All-Ohio in cross country and three times in track.

Personal
• Eleanor Joan Chappell Smith is the daughter of Stephen and Lynne Smith and she has one sister, Kendall.
• She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
