Maggi Szpak's up-to-date results

As a Senior (2015-16)

Szpak ran in two cross country meets as a senior, finishing 10th at the Lehigh Paul Short Run.

On the track, the competed in three indoor meets, placing second in the 5K at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup.

As a Junior (2014-15)
Szpak set a new personal best at the season-opening dual-meet at Army West Point, finishing 10th. She broke into the Big Red's top seven for the first time at the Harry Anderson Invitational and was again in the top group for Cornell at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational and at Ivy League Heptagonals, helping the team to a fourth-place finish.

On the track, she opened the indoor season with a fourth-place finish in the 3000 meters at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open and followed up with a win in the same event at the Upstate Challenge. She was also victorious in the 3000 at the Big Red Sunday Invitational. She finished third in the 5000 at the Denault Memorial.

As a Sophomore (2013-14)
Szpak mostly ran 5Ks this cross country season and competed in three races, including the meet against Army, the Boston College Invitational and the Reif Memorial Run, where she placed 10th with a time of 18:32.2. Her only 6K came at the Princeton Championships, where she finished with a time of 23:01.0.

Szpak grew her presence on the track team her sophomore season, with strong finishes in the Indoor and Outdoor Heptagonals as well as an ECAC appearance.  Her indoor season included several impressive 5K runs, finishing 21st in the event at the Indoor Heps and 9th at the Indoor ECACs to a time of 16:54.70.  At the Outdoor Heps, she ran a 17:16.48 5K to 13th place and also ran the 10K at 36:03.11 to eighth place.

As a Freshman (2012-13)
Szpak was a solid runner for the Big Red during her freshman year, beginning her Cornell career with a 14th-place finish at the Army-Binghamton tri-meet. She then took 22nd place at the Yellowjacket Invitational and 15th place at the open race at the Paul Short Run. She was the fourth Cornell runner across the finish line at the Princeton Invitational, and her year came to an end at the John Reif Memorial Run where she took ninth place.

She showed promise on the track as well, running in 10 distance events throughout the year. She had seasonal bests of 10:13.17 in the 3K at the Deneault Invitational, 18:04.21 in the 5K at the Sykes/Sabock Challenge and 11:07.96 in the 3K steeplechase at the Binghamton-Buffalo meet in late April.

Before Cornell
A key part of Saratoga’s top seven that finished second as a team at Nike Cross Country Nationals, Szpak is a rapidly improving runner on the track, finishing just her second season in 2012. She has personal bests of 4:42 for 1500, 10:02.65 for 3K and 7:05 for the 2K steeplechase.

Megan Jane Szpak is the daughter of Joseph and Jane Szpak. She has a younger brother, Robert, and a younger sister, Jolie.
