Biography

Senior Season — 2015
The only four-year starter on the team, Tate earned All-Ivy League second team honors to cap off a terrific career. She served alongside Shanay Fischer as the Big Red's co-captains, effectively helping orchestrate the program's turnaround from a 1-14-1 record during her freshman season to a 9-4-4 mark when she was a senior. Tate scored her first collegiate goal and later added an assist on Oct. 24 against Brown — on Cornell’s Senior Day, no less. She also had an assist on Sept. 13 against St. Bonaventure, when she alertly intercepted a clearing pass and stormed upfield before eventually sending a ball into the box which was converted into the game's only goal by Jessica Ritchie. A fixture at left back, Tate helped the Big Red tie a single-season program record with 12 shutouts.

Junior Season — 2014
A three-year starter, Tate was recognized for her role as a fixture at the left back position with All-Ivy League Honorable Mention. One of the most athletic players on the team, Tate has evolved into one of the squad’s best one-on-one defenders. While she had no points this season, she was a constant threat to move forward and jump into the play offensively. She played 1,409 minutes this season, which was second on the team only to senior midfielder Claire MacManus.

Sophomore Season — 2013
Tate appeared in all 16 games as a fixture on flank defense, frequently using her speed and athleticism to make runs and kick-start the offense. She notched her first two collegiate assists in a non-league games. The first came on Rachel Nichols' second goal in a 4-0 victory over NJIT on Sept. 22, then Tate accounted for the lone assist on Claire MacManus' strike Oct. 6 at Delaware State in a 1-0 win.

Freshman Season — 2012
One of the Big Red's top newcomers, Tate was in line to be a rare freshman to play in all 16 games before a mid-season injury kept her sidelined for a couple of weeks. Tate was a fixture as an outside back, never afraid to make runs forward. She registered two shots on the season — one Sept. 21 at Columbia and the other on Oct. 27 vs. Princeton.

Prior to Cornell
Tate was named to the All-Ohio First Team and All-Region IV First Team after a senior season with Westlake in which she served as team captain. She helped Westlake win three district championships and is a three-time selection to the All-Southwest Conference and All-District Greater Cleveland teams. Tate was a dual sport star in high school, also competing for four years as a middle distance runner with the track team. She set the school record in the 1,600-meter run. She was named a Southwestern Conference Scholar Athlete for both sports as a senior, and was also a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society and was a National Merit Commended Scholar.
