Biography

Why Uzzo Chose Cornell: I chose Cornell because of the high caliber academics and the incredible energy evident in the team. Cornell had always been one of my top choices, but when I went on my official visit I knew it was where I belonged. The culture of both the school and the team really struck me as an environment in which I would be excited and able to grow and thrive.


At Cornell
As a senior (2019-20)

• Rowed with the “C” boat during round one of the Princeton Chase, finishing with a time of 16:41.944.
• Rowed with the “C” boat during round two of the Princeton Chase, crossing the finish line in 17:13.992.
• Rowed in the “B” eights boat at the Cornell Autumn Classic that took fifth place, crossing the finish line in 13:44.97.

As a junior (2018-19)
• Rowed in the varsity four for the first two races of the season before moving into the second varsity four for the final three regattas of the year.
• Took sixth at the Ivy League Championship where the second varsity four competed in the Grand Finals.

As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Rowed in the second varsity four for the first two races of the season before moving into the varsity four for the final four competitions of the year.
• Helped the second varsity four to a second place finish at the Doc Hosea Invitational, as well as a victory over Harvard.
• Led the varsity four to a win over Dartmouth.

As a freshman (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the varsity four B throughout her rookie season.
• Helped the varsity four B become the Big Red’s top finisher at the Clemson Invitational, taking fifth in the B-level Final.
• Rowed the crew to victory over Dartmouth.

Prior to Cornell 
• A four-year letter winner at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Uzzo was a member of the varsity eight in her final two seasons, after rowing in the lightweight eight as a sophomore.
• A three-time Philadelphia City Champion (2013, 2015, 2016), she helped the varsity eight to a gold medal at the 2015 Stotesbury Cup, a silver at the 2015 Head of the Schuylkill, and a top eight finish at the 2015 Women's Henley Regatta.
• Earned a silver medal in the lightweight eight at 2014 SRAA Scholastic Nationals and placed seventh overall with that same boat at the 2014 Youth Nationals.
• Lettered twice in volleyball at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, helping the team to first place in the Catholic Academy league in 2012.  

Personal
• Alexandra Marie Uzzo is the daughter of Robert and Cheryl Uzzo and she has a younger brother and sister.
• Both parents attended Cornell’s Weill Medical College.
• Enrolled in the College of Engineering.
