Biography

Why Marcasciano Chose Cornell: During my visit, I truly felt a sense of community on campus and especially among the members of the crew team and knew I wanted to be a part of that. Cornell also has great balance between academics and athletics, and of course the campus is beautiful!

At Cornell
As a senior (2019-20)

• Coxed in the championship eight at the 55th Head of the Charles Regatta, finishing with a time of 16:21.888 ahead of Ivy League foe Dartmouth.
• Coxed with the “C” boat during round one of the Princeton Chase, finishing with a time of 16:41.944.
• Coxed with the “A” fours boat that took second place at the Cornell Autumn Classic, finishing with a time of 14:13.83.
• Coxed in the “B” eights boat at the Cornell Autumn Classic that took fifth place, crossing the finish line in 13:44.97.

As a junior (2018-19)
• Coxed the varsity eight at each regatta during her junior season.

As a sophomore (2017-18)

• Coxed the varsity eight throughout her sophomore season.

As a freshman (2016-2017)
• Began her rookie season as the coxswain for the second varsity eight.
• Coxed the varsity eight against Brown and at the Clemson Invitational before returning to the second varsity eight for the remainder of the season.
• Helped the second varsity eight to a victory over Dartmouth.

Prior to Cornell
• Coxed for three years with Community Rowing, Inc., serving as a team captain.
• Helped the women’s youth eight to an 11th place finish at the 2016 Youth Nationals and a sixth place finish at the 2015 Canadian Henley.
• Also coxed with the women’s youth four to a 12th place finish at the 2015 Youth Nationals.

Personal
• Alexa Joanne Marcasciano is the daughter of Philip and Olga Marcasciano and she has one younger sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
