At Cornell
As a junior, Payne participated at the 2012 NCAA Championship as a member of the Spare Pair. During the regular season, she rowed primarily in the varsity four B boat. Payne was named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete after rowing in the varsity four during her sophomore year. Payne rowed on the third varsity eight as a rookie.
