Biography

Why Motzer Chose Cornell: I chose Cornell because I felt very comfortable on the campus. It is the perfect mix of sports and academics all situated within the beautiful town of Ithaca. Additionally, it has a major I was very interested in (IARD) that I did not find at any other school.

 
At Cornell
As a freshman (2015-16)

• Helped the third varsity eight defeat Princeton and Radcliffe. She moved into the varsity four B for the Clemson Invitational.
• Also helped that crew to an open-water victory over Boston University at Brown.
• Finished the season in the varsity four A at Dartmouth and in the second varsity eight at the 2016 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship.

Prior to Cornell
• Spent three years with the Pocock Rowing Center in Seattle.
• Was the stroke for the varsity eight during her final two seasons and served as captain of the varsity girls during those same seasons.
• Was a member of a varsity eight boat that qualified for nationals in each of her three years.
• As the stroke of the junior varsity eight, she helped the crew to a first place ranking in the region.
• Also earned three varsity letters with the Seattle Preparatory School swim team and spent one season with the cross country program.

Personal
• Caroline Lederle Motzer is the daughter of Bill Motzer and Lederle Tenney and she has two older brothers, including Charlie ’14, who played for the Big Red’s men’s rugby club team.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
