At Cornell
Stephanie Chivers joined the Big Red staff prior to the 2015-16 season.

In her four seasons with the Big Red, Chivers helped the varsity four C win the bronze medal at the 2016 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship, while the third varsity eight finished just outside of the medals at the 2017 event.

In both the 2018 and 2019 season, Cornell had two rowers named All-Ivy.

Prior To Cornell

Chivers came to Cornell following a successful five-year stint as the assistant coach for women's rowing at The George Washington University. During her time with the Colonials, she was responsible for coaching the novice rowers and played an active role in recruiting. With her help, the GW program went from consistently placing in the bottom of the Atlantic 10 standings to placing in the top four in three of her final four seasons.

Chivers arrived at GW after spending two years as the assistant coach of women's rowing at Nova Southeastern University, a Division II program in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she worked with the novice boats and coached the varsity four to the 2009 NCAA Championship.

No stranger to the Finger Lakes, Chivers began her coaching career as a Graduate Assistant at Ithaca College. She has also coached masters and high school programs at Berkshire Rowing and Sculling Society in Pittsfield, Mass., and the Riverfront Recapture in Hartford, Conn.

Rowing Career

As a student-athlete, Chivers had a distinguished career as a four-year rower at UConn, serving as team captain during her senior season. She earned academic honors all eight semesters of her collegiate career, including a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete award in 2004. She also earned the program’s Husky Award for Friendship, Leadership and Dedication.
