Biography
Why I Chose Cornell: I chose Cornell not only because of its diverse student body, but because I knew that I would have the opportunity to excel here. I knew that here at Cornell I would learn how to be independent and take the initiative to seek out opportunity rather than have it handed to me.
At Cornell
As a junior (2016-17)
• Began her junior season as the coxswain of the varsity four.
• Also split time coxing the third varsity eight and varsity four B throughout the season.
• Coxed the varsity four B to victory over Dartmouth.
• Helped the third varsity eight finish just outside of the medals in fourth behind Brown, Yale, and Harvard at the 2017 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championships.
As a sophomore (2015-16)
• Coxed the varsity four B during her sophomore season.
• The crew opened the year with a victory over Penn and UMass at the Doc Hosea Invitational Regatta.
• Also helped the crew to a victory at Dartmouth and an open-water victory over Boston University in a race at Brown.
As a freshman (2013-14)Â
• Rowed in the fourth varsity C boat that was the Big Red’s top finisher at the 2015 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship, with a fourth place finish overall.Â
Prior to Cornell
• Dejesus played golf all four years in high school and was an active member of the Science Olympiad and math teams.
Personal
• Denis Dejesus is studying Biology in the College of Arts and Science, concentrating in Genetics and Development.
