Biography

Why Wothe Chose Cornell: I chose Cornell because of its amazing academics combined with a committed and close-knit team. I felt at home on campus, and couldn't give up the opportunity to row for the Big Red. I can't wait to spend the next four years at Cornell!


At Cornell
As a senior (2019-20)

• Competed with the “B” boat during round one of the Princeton Chase, crossing the finish line in 16:30.547.
• Rowed with the “C” boat during round two of the Princeton Chase, crossing the finish line in 17:13.992.
• Finished in seventh place at the Cornell Autumn Classic rowing in the “C” eights boat that crossed the line in 14:04.94.

As a junior (2018-19)
• Competed with the second varsity eight and the varsity four.
• Took second in the petite final at the Ivy League Championships regatta.

As a sophomore (2017-18)
• Rowed in the five-seat of the second varsity eight throughout her sophomore season.
• Helped the second varsity eight defeat Navy.

As a freshman (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the varsity four throughout her rookie season.
• Rowed the varsity four to victory over Dartmouth.
• Helped the crew win the C-Level Final at the Clemson Invitational with a time that put them ahead of several boats in the B-Level Final.

Prior to Cornell
• Wothe rowed four years at Episcopal School of Jacksonville, winning Florida Scholastic Rowing Association State Championships in the varsity double (2016), varsity pair (2016) and the freshmen eight (2011).
• Won a gold medal at the 2015 Stotesbury Cup Regatta Champion in the junior double and silver at the 2016 Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championship in the varsity double.
• Finished in 5th place (2015) and 6th place (2016) in the pair event at the USRowing Youth National Championship.
• As a member of the Jacksonville Rowing Club, Wothe won Florida Scholastic Rowing Association State Championships in the junior double (2013), the varsity pair (2013, 2014), and the varsity double (2014).
• Earned a bronze medal in the U17 double and took fourth overall in the U17 single at the 2014 USRowing Club National Championship.
• Placed 15th overall in the double at both the 2013 and 2014 USRowing Youth National Championship.
• Invited to participate in the 2013 USRowing Sculling Development Camp in 2014 and 2015, as well as the USRowing Sculling Selection Camp.
• Selected to row in the CanAmMex quad and double in 2014 and 2015. 

Personal
• Isabel Alicia Wothe is the daughter of Gary Wothe and Barbara Sanchez-Salazar and she has two brothers and a twin sister, Maria, who rows for UCLA.
• Her mother also rowed collegiately for Villanova.
• Enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
