Biography
Why Goonan Chose Cornell: “I chose Cornell because it had the academic rigor I was looking for in the field I was looking to study. The campus is also amazing and the people are very nice and have an interest in what you are doing and how you are doing. I am so glad I chose Cornell and get to attend and row for this school!”
At Cornell
During her junior season, Goonan rowed in the second varsity eight that took fifth at the 2015 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship. As a sophomore, Goonan stroked the varsity four crew that finished fifth to beat its seeding at the 2014 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship. In her first season, Goonan rowed in the second varsity four boat that finished in fifth place at the 2013 Ivy League Women's Rowing Championship.
Prior to Cornell
Goonan lettered six times at Northfield Mount Hermon high school, captaining the crew as a senior. She placed sixth at the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association Championships in 2011 and 2012, as well as taking tenth place at the Head of the Charles Regatta in 2010 after a nineteenth place finish in 2011.
Personal
Kelly Marie Goonan is the daughter of Thomas and Kate Goonan. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
