Biography

Why Strohm Chose Cornell: I chose Cornell because of its location, academics and strong rowing program. When I visited, I immediately fell in love with the whole atmosphere and knew it would be my top choice.

At Cornell
Junior (2015-16): Strohm returned to the second varsity eight for her junior season. She competed for the Big Red at Yale, the Doc Hosea Invitational Regatta, and vs. Princeton and Radcliffe.

Sophomore (2014-15): During her sophomore season, Strohm rowed in the second varsity eight that took fifth at the 2015 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship.

Freshman (2013-14): As a freshman, Strohm rowed in the varsity four crew that finished fifth to beat its seeding at the 2014 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship.

Prior to Cornell
Strohm rowed for a year with the Newport Aquatic Center, helping the varsity eight to a first place finish at the 2012 Head of the American, as well as a third-place finish in the novice eight at the 2012 Final Southwestern Championships. An accomplished gymnast for 10 years, Strohm took first in the beam, second in the bars, fifth in the vault and finished fourth overall in the all-around at the 2011 USAG Level 8 Region I Championship. She also placed first in the all-around at the 2009 USAIGC Gold national championship.

Personal
Kelly Elizabeth Strohm is the daughter of Gary and Kim Strohm and she has two older brothers. Her grandfather, Howard Winfree, rowed for the Naval Academy and went on to row in the 1960 Olympics. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
