Why Ryan Chose Cornell: “I chose Cornell because of all of the opportunities the school has to offer athletically and academically.”
At Cornell
During her junior season, Ryan rowed in the varsity eight that placed fifth overall at the 2015 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship. She also helped the Big Red to win the Parents’ Cup and Class of ’89 Points Plate with regular-season victories over Dartmouth and Penn, respectively. Following the season, Ryan traveled to England with the Big Red to participate in the program's first-ever trip to the Henley Women's Regatta, where she rowed as a member of the varsity eight in the Elite 8 race. As a sophomore, Ryan rowed in the varsity eight that finished fifth at the 2014 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship. Following the season, she was selected to participate in the USRowing Women’s National Team Pre-Elite Camp. Ryan spent her first season with the Big Red rowing in the third varsity eight that took fourth place at the 2013 Ivy League Women's Rowing Championship.
Prior to Cornell
Ryan rowed four years at Convent of the Sacred Heart, serving as team captain as a junior and as a senior. She participated in the Junior National Development Camp in 2010 (sweep) and 2011 (scull).
Personal
Margaretta Elaine Ryan is the daughter of Christopher and Cynthia Ryan and she has one older and one younger sister. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
