Biography

Why Clark Chose Cornell: I chose Cornell because I got a good vibe when I visited campus and Cornell was very well suited to my academic interest. I also thought I would fit in very well with the student body.


At Cornell
As a junior (2016-17)
• Consistent member of the second varsity eight throughout her junior season.
• Helped the second varsity eight to victory over Dartmouth.

As a sophomore (2015-16)
• Rowed in the third varsity eight during her sophomore season, helping the Big Red to victory at the Doc Hosea Invitational Regatta, as well as against Princeton and Radcliffe.
• Also rowed in the varsity four A at Dartmouth and varsity four B at the 2016 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship.

As a freshman (2014-15) 
• Rowed in the varsity four B that took sixth overall at the 2015 Ivy League Women’s Rowing Championship.
• Also rowed in the third varsity eight that defeated Dartmouth during the regular season.
• Following the season, Clark traveled to England with the Big Red to participate in the program's first-ever trip to the Henley Women's Regatta, where she rowed as a member of the second varsity eight in the Senior 8 race.  

Prior to Cornell
• Rowed for six years with the Wilmington Youth Rowing Association and was selected to the US Junior National Team Selection Camp in the summer of 2014.
• She was a member of the Junior National CanAmMex Team that rowed in Oklahoma City in 2013.
• Helped her crew to a third place finish at the 2013 Mid-Atlantic regional, after taking third at the 2012 Head of the Schuylkill.

Personal
• Sophia Demetra Clark is the daughter of the Jan and Gigi Clark and she has two younger sisters.
• Both her uncle Peter Klose and her aunt Jean Voutsinas graduated from Cornell.
• Enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
