Symons comes from a perennial powerhouse Grand Blanc HS team, having also played club soccer for Vardar in the Elite Clubs National League. She was a member of the National Honor Society and received the Grand Blanc Academic Excellence Award and Presidents Award for Academic Excellence.

Amanda Lynn Symons is the daughter of Michael and Michelle Symonds, and she has a younger sister. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
