Sophomore Season - 2011
Irwin was the only sophomore to appear in all 16 games for the Big Red, becoming a regular at outside back after early-season injuries left the team's depth on the back line compromised. She started in 13 games, playing significant minutes in the other three contests, and wasted little time getting on the scoresheet. Her lone point on the season came on an assist in the season opener at Fordham, when the opposing keeper spilled a rebound of an Irwin shot to Maneesha Chitanvis for a tap-in goal.

Freshman Season - 2010
Irwin had a strong first year with the Big Red, recording a goal and an assist on the season to finish with three points. She appeared in all 15 games, starting three times. Irwin collected her first career point with an assist in the win over Delaware State on Sept. 5, then tallied a goal in the Big Red's win at Bucknell on Sept. 19. Irwin made three straight starts early in the season, being in the opening 11 on Sept. 5 against Delaware State, five days later against St. Bonaventure and two days later against Seton Hall.

Before Cornell
Irwin was a two-time selection to the all-district team as a sophomore and junior, with this year’s teams still to be named. She was a two-time team captain and helped her team to a district championship as a sophomore. A multi-sport athlete, she also ran two seasons of varsity cross country and two of track, while also playing two years of basketball. She was twice a regional qualifier in cross country and once in track and field. Irwin played club soccer with Loudoun 91 Red, helping that team to the finals of the State Cup in 2009. She was a six-time member of the Virginia State ODP team and was selected to the Region I identification camp four times. Irwin was also selected as the Super Y League National ODP Player in 2009 as a part of the Majestics Super Y team.

Personal
Annmarie O'Connell Irwin is the daughter of Bill and Fritz Irwin and has two younger brothers. Her mother played tennis at the Air Force Academy, while her grandmother played basketball at Emmanuel College. She is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
