Becca Salant, 2015 Headshot

Becca Salant

Salant has completed one season as an assistant coach with the Big Red, helping the 2015 squad to a 9-4-4 record which ranks as the program's best since 2002. Her primary responsibilities were working with the team's goalkeepers. The results speak for themselves — the team recorded nine consecutive shutouts and was the last Division I team in the country to concede its first goal of the season. Goalkeeper Kelsey Tierney '17 was named an All-Ivy League first team selection.

Salant was the D3Soccer.com Goalkeeper of the Year with Ithaca College, where she backstopped the Bombers deep into the NCAA tournament in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons. As a junior ascending to the starting role for the first time, she set a program record with 139 saves and helped IC advance to the national semifinals. Salant then posted a miniscule 0.37 goals-against average with 11 shutouts as a senior. In addition to being named the D3Soccer.com Goalkeeper of the Year, she was a first-team All-American, NSCAA College Division Scholar All-East Region first team honoree and second-team Academic All-American.

Salant was also an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient, and she continued her studies and recently received a doctorate of physical therapy.
