Danielle Sambur, who helped lead Binghamton to its first-ever NCAA tournament as a senior student-athlete, was reunited with her former assistant coach after being named assistant coach at Cornell University in August 2011. Cornell head coach Danielle LaRoche was an assistant coach on that 2004 Binghamton staff and hopes the former three-time Bearcat captain will help provide leadership to complete the turnaround of the Big Red's program.
"Danielle brings a high level of passion and enthusiasm to the staff," LaRoche said. "With her experience as an attacking midfielder, Danielle will work closely on improving our attack.“
Sambur was a three-year captain as a player at Binghamton, helping the program to an America East conference title as a senior. She was a first-team all-conference selection for the NCAA tournament-bound Bearcats in 2004, while also earning Dean's List accolades in the classroom.
She is a veteran of numerous camps as a clinician, including Binghamton and Siena. Sambur also spent time as the Under-13 soccer coach for the BC United Fusion.
Besides coaching, Sambur has an extensive background in school counseling in Colorado and Wyoming, where she is state certified. She earned a bachelor's degree in human development from Binghamton in 2005, then earned her master's in Education and Human Resource Studies from Colorado State in 2008.
