Freshman Season — 2013
Banks had a very successful collegiate debut, finishing second on the team in scoring with three goals and six assists for 12 points. Banks and Elizabeth Crowell gave the Big Red two freshmen with at least 11 points in a season for the first time since the program's inception in 1982, and Banks' 12 points were the most by any freshman since Lena Russomagno in 2007. Banks wasted no time notching her first collegiate point, assisting on Kerry Schubert's goal in the fifth minute of a 1-0 victory at Sacred Heart in the season opener. She went on to score her first goal Sept. 15 against Albany as part of a season-high three-game point streak. She scored her final two goals of the season in Ivy League play, finding the net in a 2-0 victory Sept. 27 against Columbia and in a season-ending loss Nov. 9 at Dartmouth. In all, Banks had points in eight of the 10 games in which the Big Red scored goals. She was one of just two freshmen to start all 16 of the team's games (Kailey Joyce is the other), and she was one of just five players overall with 16 starts.
Prior to Cornell
Banks joins the Big Red after four years at Punahou School, where she won consecutive state titles in 2010 and 2011. She was named to the all-state first team twice, and was also given honorable mention in 2012. She was also a three-time member of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu First Team and was named to the all-tournament team in 2011 and 2013. As a senior captain, she was also named the team’s Most Inspirational Player, Honor Scholar Athlete and was presented the Athletic Award of Honor. She also competed on the club level with the Leahi Soccer Club’s 95 Premiere team, which was a six-time state champion and regional qualifier. She was the leading scorer in the Girls’ Under-19 Gold Division of the Major Island Soccer Organization.
