Biography

Senior Season — 2016
Tierney made seven starts and played the second halves of two other games with a 3-5 record, 1.86 goals against average, .674 save percentage and two shutouts. She finished her collegiate career with a total of 20 clean sheets, which is tied for second in program history, Tierney is also tied for fourth with 21 career victories, ranks sixth in goals against average (1.22) and seventh in total saves (180).

Junior Season — 2015
Tierney played every minute of the historic season in goal for the Big Red, which tied a program single-season record with 12 shutouts, earning All-Ivy League first team honors. She led the nation in goals against average for much of the season and finished the year ranked seventh (0.50), and she also ranked 13th in save percentage (.868). Her 12 shutouts ranked fourth in the nation. Tierney was consecutively named the Ivy League Player of the Week on Sept. 7 and Sept. 14, the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 9, and she was named the lone goalkeeper on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week for Sept. 6. The Ivy weekly honors mark the first time Cornell has taken league player of the week accolades in consecutive weeks since 1988. Alongside classmate Elizabeth Crowell, Tierney is the Big Red's first All-Ivy first-teamer since 1995.

Sophomore Season — 2014
Tierney was the Big Red's No. 1 goalkeeper, making 14 starts and appearing all but one of the team's games. She backstopped the team to four of its six shutouts, including three in a row to start the season in games against Massachusetts, Marist and Virginia Military Institute. Her final shutout of the season came at an ideal time, when she made three saves in a 1-0 victory over Dartmouth on Nov. 8 to help the Big Red to its highest Ivy League win total and overall win total since 2002. Tierney was twice called upon to make more than five saves, stopping six in the season-opening overtime victory at Massachusetts. Tierney then made eight saves in a terrific performance Oct. 11 at Harvard, keeping the Big Red's deficit respectable against the eventual Ivy League champion. As of the end of the season, Tierney ranked seventh on the program's all-time career list in wins (10), tied for eighth in shutouts (six) and ninth in goals-against average (1.50).

Freshman Season — 2013
Tierney established herself as the Big Red's primary goalkeeper, backstopping the team to four of its seven victories. She had a pair of shutouts and also combined with senior Tori Christ for two more clean sheets. After appearing as a reserve in two of the team's first three games, Tierney emerged victorious in her first collegiate start with a 2-1 overtime victory over Marist. She followed that up with a three-save blanking of Binghamton. After suffering a narrow 1-0 loss against Cincinnati, Tierney responded with a win against NJIT. At that time, Tierney was tabbed the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week, ranked 11th in the country in save percentage (.905) and 20th in goals-against average (0.42). She later made three saves for a shutout against Columbia -- the Big Red's first Ivy League victory in nearly three years -- then made a season-high seven saves in a game against eventual champion Harvard.

Prior to Cornell
Tierney played for four seasons with Garden City HS, helping the program to its first ever New York state title in 2010. She went on to letter the following two seasons and was tabbed 2012 All-Class by Nassau County Girls Soccer and the team's Scholar Athlete in 2010, 2011 and 2012. She also served as class president, president of the Girls' Athletic Association and president of National French Honor Society at Garden City HS, and she was also a member of the National Honor Society. Tierney also lettered in basketball and badminton. She also competed at the club level with the Albertson Fury, and she helped the team to the finals of the 2012 PDA Invitational Girls Soccer Showcase and the 2013 Region 1 finals. Tierney was also part of the Olympic Development Program from 2005 to 2010, and the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Program's State ODP from 2011 to 2012.
