Biography
At Cornell
Buerkle made an appearance in all 16 games for the Big Red, earning the starting nod four times. She made her first career start in her college debut on Aug. 31 at Hofstra, and later earned starts against St. John's, St. Bonaventure and Princeton.
Before Cornell
Buerkle was named the 2006 Central New York Player of the Year after leading Homer HS to its first sectional championship. She was a three-time second-team all-state honoree and was named all-region by the NSCAA. Buerkle played soccer for two years at Homer after spending her first two seasons at McGraw HS, where she led the team to the state title as a sophomore, in the process being named the state tournament offensive most valuable player. She scored 92 goals and tallied 91 asissts in her high school career, and broke the single-season record for points at both schools. Buerkle is a three-year member of the New York State West ODP team, and won the state championship with the Syracuse Blitz in 2006.
Personal
Laura Buerkle is the daughter of Dan and Cindy Buerkle, and she has an older brother and a younger brother. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
