Biography
Senior Season — 2017
Serving as one of the team's co-captains, Farber saw a variety of roles with the Big Red — spanning from the back line to central midfielder to some time at forward. She started nine of the team's 14 games, appearing in all but one of the other contests. She directed four shots toward goal.
Junior Season — 2016
Farber worked her way back from injury to appear in 13 games, including three starts. Despite her limited playing time, she was one of just three players on the team to earn multiple assists. Her first came on the game-winning goal Sept. 18 at Binghamton, when Farber headed a ball that beat the Bearcats' goalkeeper and caromed off the post, only to be cleaned up by Kennedy Yearby. Farber's second assist came Oct. 15 against Yale, when her thrown-in was flicked on to Juliana Comer for the game-winning goal against the Bulldogs. After the season, Farber was named a co-captain for the 2017 season alongside classmate Kaylee Fitzgerald.
Sophomore Season — 2015
Farber appeared in 11 games before he season was cut short by injury. Typically the Big Red's starting right back, Farber helping the squad tie a single-season program record with 12 shutouts on the year. Cornell was 8-0-3 in the games in which Farber competed, outscoring the opposition by a cumulative score of 13-1. She had one assist on the year, coming Sept. 6 against Akron to help the Big Red win St. Bonaventure's Alumni Classic.
Freshman Season — 2014
Farber was one of the Big Red's most impactful newcomers, appearing in 16 games as the defender on the right flank. Her 14 starts were the most among all of the team's freshmen, and she notched her first two collegiate assists in consecutive games. The first came Oct. 3 vs. Penn on the first of Cornell's three goals, then the second came three days later on a deep cross at Colgate. He took 11 shots on the season, which was tops among the Big Red's defenders.
Prior to Cornell
Farber played for Connecticut FC from the Elite Clubs National League, in addition to competing for Weston HS. She served as Weston's captain during her senior season, earning team most valuable player and all-state honors. Additionally, she was named to the Connecticut Senior Bowl Team, Norwalk Hour All Area Team, and to the Connecticut Post's Hearst Super 15 Girls Soccer All-Star Team that season. Farber was also a decorated sprinter in both indoor and outdoor track and field for Weston HS.
Personal
Whitney Hannah Farber is the daughter of Stuart and Donna Farber, and she has two sisters. Her father rowed for Northeastern and one of her sisters rowed for Boston College. She is enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
