Biography
Senior Season — 2011-12
Berner posted a 10-10 record, finishing the season with a national ranking of No. 89. She most frequently competed at the No. 6 spot after starting the season lower in the lineup. She pieced together a string of nine victories over 11 matches from Nov. 19 to Feb. 3.
At Cornell:
After playing at the No. 8 and 9 spots last season, Clare Berner has returned with a vengence and is motivated to move up in the lineup this season. She has been working extremely hard on fitness to improve her on-court endurance and confidence levels, both of which should ensure her a better all-around performance this season.
Prior to Cornell
Berner served as the captain of the Greenwich Academy squash team and helped lead her team to wins at the High School Nationals and the New England Championships. She plays at the Apawamis club in Rye, N.Y.
Personal
Clare M. Berner is the daughter of Rob and Libby Berner, and she has two brothers and two sisters. Her older brother, Robby, plays squash at Yale. Berner is currently enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences majoring in Communication.
