Biography
Senior Season — 2013-14Caty appeared in 12 scoring matches, earning a career-high seven victories from primarily the lower half of the order. She was 2-4 in Ivy League play, including a four-game victory over Brown's Isabel Scherl on Jan. 11 and an exciting rally for a five-game win over Dartmouth's Sarah Caughey on Feb. 2. Caty finished her collegiate career on a high note with big wins from the No. 9 spot in the consolation bracket of the Howe Cup. She topped Carolyn Gillette in four games to help the Big Red to a 6-3 victory over the Cardinal in the consolation semifinals, which allowed the team to maintain its No. 6 national ranking from season's start to finish. Caty then accounted for Cornell's lone point in a consolation final loss to Princeton, staving off Tara Harrington in five games.
Junior Season — 2012-13Caty continued to see part-time action in scoring matches, racking up a 6-2 record from all over the lineup. She debuted with a five-game victory over Williams' Nicole Feshbach at the No. 5 spot on Nov. 17, winning the deciding game, 15-13. Caty also won two of three Ivy League matches in which she appeared, defeating Columbia's Kate Calihan in three games and Brown's Sarah Beresford in four games from the bottom shift. She finished the season ranked 98th in the country by the CSA.
Sophomore Season — 2011-12Caty posted a 6-6 record emerging as the squad's primary entry in the No. 9 position during the second half of the season. She finished the season with a national ranking of No. 116. Three of her victories came in Ivy League play against Brown, Dartmouth and Penn.
Before CornellCaty played at the Buffalo Tennis & Squash Club in Buffalo, N.Y., as well as at the White Oaks Resort and Spa in St. Catherines, Ontario. She played both the American and Canadian junior squash circuits, finishing the season ranked 29th in the GU19 of the USSRA. She also played varsity soccer and ran track in high school.
PersonalCaty is the daughter of Michael and Diana Caty. She has an older sister, Jane, who graduated from Cornell in 2010, and a brother who currently attends Fairfield. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
